Reece Goodrich
Reece Goodrich, age 79, died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at his home with his family around him after a long 20 year fight against Parkinson Disease.
Born in Bluebell, Utah to George Arthur and Myrle Walker Smith Goodrich, he grew up in Duchesne, Utah, living on the river in a "Huck Finn" life. His family moved to Salt Cheap christian audigier Lake City when he was 12, graduated from South High School and
received his Business Management degree at the University of Utah.
Reece was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, serving a mission to the Great Lakes Mission before serving in the Navy during the Korean Conflict as an engineer on a Mine Sweeper.
Married Shirley Ann Stobbe in the L.D.S. Salt Lake Temple. He loved his family greatly, enjoying the time he spent with his brothers, sisters, extended family and close friends. Reece adored the many dogs in his life.
He then started his own construction business, Reece Goodrich Construction, building commercial projects and was awarded the Hill Air Force Base Housing contract. Retired after 37 successful years. He not only took pride in operating an honest business, but truly relished the friends he made during his time in business. Reece served in the Utah House of Representatives. He was Bally Bags an advocate and staunch supporter of the University of Utah through out his life and season ticket holder to the Utes Basketball games for 45 years.
He loved the Lord, Jesus Christ and serving his fellow men in the Gospel. He served in many callings, including Bishop and in a Stake Presidency. He was known for his dry sense of
humor and stories in his many talks. Reece had a good singing voice and knew a lot of old songs.
Reece loved to travel with his family, especially to locations where he could golf or fish. He liked fishing and catching his limits of salmon and halibut in Alaska. He was also proud to have made three Holes-in-One on golf courses in New Zealand, Scotland and here in Utah.
Reece is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann, his son Mark, his daughter Rebecca Watson and her daughter Sarah, his only grandchild, son-in-law John Stevens and his wife Shauna and her children Shaelyn and Robert Little and their children Ryder and Klarice, Stephanie and John Irons and their daughter London, Carl Graves: sister Gay and her husband Hugh Bronson, brother Ray and his wife Replica Coach Dolly Goodrich, sister-in-law Maxine Johnson. He was preceded in death by his daughter Claudia Ruth Goodrich Stevens. The family would like to thank Inspiration Hospice for their great care.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 25, 2010, at 12 Noon in the Draper River View Stake Center, 12101 So. 700 W. Friends may call Thursday 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 So. and Friday at the Ward 10:30-11:45 a.m. Interment Crescent Cemetery. Online condolences:
