A NATIONAL house builder with plans to build a large estate in Looe has put forward its proposals to Cornwall Council.

Under the detailed plans, a total of 75 affordable dwellings will be built, split between rented properties and shared ownership.
The company wants to develop land to the rear of Looe Community School and the Sunrising Estate. The phase two development includes a section employment land. Included in the scheme is a play area, a central green and allotments.
Barratt says the bid is the culmination of several months of consultation with local residents and local councillors.
Gareth Kendall, planning manager for Barratt Homes Exeter, felt the majority of Looe residents were in favour of the development.
"We are delighted to see our proposals successfully registered (with Cornwall Council). The homes that will be built and the jobs that will be created will be an asset to Looe.
"From the moment we unveiled our initial ideas for this site back in February, we have enjoyed continuous and constructive dialogue with local residents and their elected representatives.
Jimmy Choo Handbags"We have encouraged everyone to let us have their views and we have not been disappointed with either the quality or level of feedback received.
"The community involvement has made the job of progressing our proposals to the stage where we can now submit them, a much easier one. We have responded to suggestions and, where possible, amended our plans to reflect local opinion.
I feel very confident that Looe is firmly behind this development which will bring homes, jobs and an added dimension to the local community."
He added: "I would stress that although the application has now been submitted, we remain very open to comments, feedback and queries. If anyone has a concern or suggestion we would like to hear about it. We have a website - .
co.uk/looe - and can also be contacted on our dedicated information line 0800 298 7040."
A range of new homes will be provided, with 40 per cent of them affordable housing, subject to grant funding. A hectare of land is reserved for future employment uses, which could include small business units and workshops.
Cornwall councillor for the area, Armand Toms, said he still had a few concerns, but the affordable homes element would be good for local people "We have about 128 people on the housing register in Looe so the affordable homes will be good news, particularly if we can make a thomas wylde Bags condition that they will only be available to local people," he said.
"The planned entrance is a worry for me and I think a roundabout would be better than the T-junction, and we need to get assurances from South West Water that the upgrading of the system to increase capacity will be done in 2011,'' said Mr Toms.
